Heya what a Horrible day. Well i was driving in L.A today heading to ucla Neurosurgery dept for my daughter. Anyways long story short. After i got off the 405 freeway at wilshire east exit i merged in with traffic and continued driving straight 1 block Traffic was so congested. I approched the green light went under it and it turned yellow I was trying to merge into the next lane over and i was completely under the light when it turned red. I could of gone straight and avoided all this mess but i couldnt get over so i waited and merged. I saw the camera take 2 pics of me and i was shocked i did not think i did anything wrong at all. When i went through the light was green. But i stopped under the light trying to get into the other lane. I called the lapd but they couldnt tell me much. I have never run light and have no points on my license, nor do i want any. I was driving probably 2-3 mph at the time this happened. Any opitions would be great thanks in advance

Im not from the la area actually from more quieter ventura county. I also wasnt in any hurry i had over 1 hr left to get there which was less than 2 miles away. I jsut feel like i didnt do anything wrong at all. I called the lapd and they told me not to worry, cause i dont even know if i will get a ticket or not. I went under the light when it was green. If i knew the area i would have probably jsut gone straight then got over later but i knew my turn was coming up soon using mapquest directions lol .

First off, speed & light cameras are only a money making item for counties & municipalities. In my belief, and that of many others in the court & law enforcement community, these cameras are clearly unconstitutional.

You have the right to face your accuser and you can't have a camera testify in court.

The agencies implementing such cameras will say it is to help with public safety but this is far from the truth. It does little or nothing to improve public safety. It is simply a revenue generator and most government agencies already have too much revenue but they simply can't prioritize it properly.

If you get a ticket I would fight it. Ask how the camera's and their corresponding hardware mechanisms are calibrated and what their accuracy is. Ask the court to see documentation on this. I would also ask when the last time the device was calibrated or had maintenance and what the recommended maintenance is from the manufacturer. Find out or ask what the failure rate is of the equipment. Get the manufacturer & model of the device along with the contractor that installed them. Find out if the contractor has had any compliance issues. I would make them prove you were in the car as well. There are a number of other items you could bring up as well. Do some research and don't just take it sitting down.

These cameras are a trend across the country because of their revenue generating potential. I think we will see a case going to the Supreme Court at some point.

Good luck....

LAPD is right. you may or may not have gotten a ticket so you will have to wait it out. If you did, you can contest it in court and it sounds like more than likely you would win and the case (ticket) would be dismissed. Yeah, i'm scared of those traffice lights. They're all over the major intersections where I live (southeast of LA). Good luck!

There are arguments on the two facets of the table concerning risk-free practices or earnings. i assume in the event that they're put in at school zones and so on, you ought to argue they're relatively for risk-free practices and that i don't think of absolutely everyone might dispute that, or care to for that count. yet, while they're stationed in extreme site visitors areas interior the midst of a hustling city like manhattan or DC and the yellow timing is speeded as much as permit for rapid site visitors pass in any respect 4 corners, i don't think of they might desire to be allowed as i think they do have the aptitude to reason extra injuries than they're worth. besides, maximum huge cities hire inner maximum contractors to establish and demonstrate screen the instruments with out regulations. In Maryland there's a stated case of the contractor, (with city approval), rushing up the yellow timing as a manner to boost the quantity of site visitors pass at busy intersections. as a effect of this action, a upward push in purple mild infractions have been issued. while confronted by using indignant motorists, the city regarded no incorrect doing pointing out "The purple mild tickets that have been issued have been an "unpredicted effect of site visitors mediation" and that they've been in the suitable timing selection of yellow to purple alerts for risk-free driving. i think of interior the case above, there's a reliable argument concerning profiteering by using the two the city and the contractor.

They will probably have the red light technicians look over your picture as they do most pictures and if it is as you say your case would be thrown out.

Good Luck
