For a couple of moments I had to wonder, "Who's birthday is this person talking about?" It wasn't until I read the replies that I realized you were talking about statehood. Anyhow, I recently came across an article in either the local newspaper or Honolulu magazine that there should be a celebration, but it has to take into consideration the opposition many native Hawaiians feel towards annexation and statehood.

Since I annually spend that weekend at a Hawaiian temple praying for unity of the Hawaiian people, I guess I would miss any planned festivities on Oahu anyway, but I do hope you have a happy birthday wherever you decide to be!

Even if Honolulu was planning a celebration for 2009, we (the public) wouldn't know about it yet. That's 2 years ago and a whole new administration away.
Besides, even if Honolulu were to plan a party, there would an accompanying protest from all of those people here that believe we shouldn't be a state at all!
My advice......plan to come anyway........even if there isn't a big party for the state......what better place to celebrate your birthday!

My kinfolk consistently celebrates many years, and in specific circumstances a million/2-many years. My grandmother had extremely the birthday bash at 80. I desire she might have celebrated ninety ... God relax her soul. That being pronounced, my friends and that i consistently rejoice each and every birthday, yet on my own, I in all probability won't have a birthday social gathering for a whilst. I cherished seeing my friends for the 1st and final time this summer season, yet college additionally starts late this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, so that's no longer as on the factor of the top of summer season because it regularly is. in the close to destiny, i might prefer to hold a Midsummer evening social gathering instead. in the far off destiny, it would not look like a detrimental thought to rejoice each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days after 70 or seventy 5. each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days of that factor is efficient.

I think that sounds like a great idea! I'm sure Hawaii will have some celebration planned in Honolulu for their 50th. Even if they don't, you'd still have a great time.

It's not too early to book your vacation with pleasantholidays.com. I just returned from a week on Maui & they did me right. I believe I paid $1150 for airfare for 2 from LA-R/T, a beautiful hotel room & car for 5 days/nights

right now fighting and protesting for hawaiian right protection and retrobution for the wrongs the government did on the hawaiian race and the nation of hawai'i is at its peak.
if they ever celebrated the annexation of hawai'i they would riot here and somebody would get shot, bob would estimate the death toll to be 5+
