If the global warming thing is for real then the Uk is in big trouble and we may be left with a group of Islands made up of the very limited high ground in England plus North Wales and Scotland.
This will affect the cohesion of the entity known as the UK. Either way it is going to be tricky remaining any sort of major power.
If we ignore the global warming/sea levels issue (ie it does not happen to a significant degree), then the current trend towards globalisation and the dominance of multinationals might well lead to 'national' entities being based on corporate-political orientation rather than geography and language/history.

Global warming will have the UK is dire straights in the next 50 years. The climate will be cold and dry and stay that way for a long time. Many Brits will move to the USA and South America. By the middle of the 21st century, the Germanic peoples will be in control of Europe and Britain will only be a small time player in world politics. When global warming subsides a smaller Britain will make a comeback but it will never be close to its current position.

In 300 years, religion will have petered out so no more muslims so no more PC. Aids will have culled the African continent, so no more poverty so no more giving to charity. George Bush the 103rd will still not be able to speak English and Maggie Thatcher, the 14th will have been crowned Queen of the World. Sounds good, eh?

Unless we as a species change our consumption, lifestyle and conflict resolution habits fast there won't be a world in 300 years' time, from the UK perspective or anywhere else.

China will be the number one super power in the world, the UK will be predominantly a Muslim country, the USA will have exhausted all its mineral wealth and will be in decline. Some of the third world countries will have their time at the top.

The Daleks conquer earth in 2150. By 2307 the earth has a moon base and a global government, things are pretty good from a UK perspective.

If we survive the impending religious world war we will still be a world power. we will have colonies on the moon and mars and will have got over our petty differences and will be looking to exploit the massive resources out in space. this will end poverty and humanity will be on the verge of a golden age. if it all goes **** up we will be on the verge of a big golden shower though!! :-)
peace to all!

We will dwindle to nothing as will the rest of Europe and the US. China is the future and we'll jump to it's tune.
