My wife and I are both Travel Consultants, and cruise about 2-3 times a year - we have sailed on every major cruise line.
You will absolutely enjoy your cruise experience on either cruise line, however, having sailed on both so many times I can tell you some of the "touches" that we found missing on Royal Caribbean.
- When first getting on-board a Celebrity ship, you are greeted by an officer, offered champagne, and escorted to your cabin by a white-gloved crew member who assists you with your carry-on luggage. Upon arrival in your cabin, you are given a quick orientation briefing. When boarding a Royal Caribbean ship, you're kind of on your own!
- We find the room service menu on RCCL to be extremely limited. No shrimp cocktails or cheese platters as on Celebrity.
- No shushi bar on RCCL. Celebrity has a shushi cafe every night.
- When returning to the ship from a shore excursion on Celebrity, you are greeted with cold towels, water or fruit juice. Not on RCCL.
- On Celebrity, shrimp cocktail and escargot are on the menu every night as a dinner appetizer - shrimp only available once during our last RCCL cruise, even when asked for!
RCCL tends to attract a younger and family oriented crowd, while Celebrity generally caters to a slightly older group of clients. It also appears to me that more people follow the dress codes on Celebrity than on RCCL (formal nights, semi-formal nights).
If you'll step back and take an overall look at Celebrity Cruise Line, you notice that they've won some pretty impressive awards. We just came off the Celebrity Constellation last week, from a 12-day Caribbean cruise, so I happen to have some info right here;
- they won 6 of the top 10 positions in the Best Large Ship category
- won highest rated Premium Cruise Line
- took top 3 spots for Best Crew/Service
- won all 4 Best Food/Dining rankings
- top spot Best Cabins
You don't get to this position by offering a less than first-class product. I'm confident that once you experience Celebrity, you'll be spoiled. Other cruise lines just don't match-up to the levels of service, attention to detail, quality of food and overall cruise experience.
Enjoy your cruise - which ever way you deside to go. Bon voyage!

I have been on both , but many more Royal Caribbean ships. Both cruise lines are now owned by the same company now so the services will be similar. The celebrity ship we went on was the Constellation and it was a 14 day cruise our of Dover, England. We thought the service was just a bit better than Royal Caribbean, but not that great a difference. I would go on Celebrity again in a minute but I love Royal Caribbean and have 2 more cruises booked with them now.
I think that you will find the newer celebrity ships to be closer to RC and the older smaller ships may not be as good. In sum, I would rate them on par.

Certainly the cruise critic site will give you many opinions.
Having sailed on both lines I definitely rate Celebrity higher than Royal Caribbean. Celebrity provides friendly service that is a full notch over RC. In addition I would rate the food slightly better.
I am not knocking RC as it is a fine cruise line, but Celebrity ranks above them.
It seems strange as Celebrity is owned by RC.

Royal Caribbean will be your better choice if you're looking for a more active cruise with a little less formality. Celebrity will be the better choice if you want a more conservative cruise. I do recommend doing some research on message boards such as Cruise Critic. Here's a link: www.cruisecritic.com
You'll find reviews on cruises lines and specific ships here:
http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/index.cfm
And if you have even more specific questions, you can register and post them on the message boards. You'll usually get answers within minutes! Here's a link to the message boards: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/
Hope this helps!

RE:
Royal Caribbean Vs. Celebrity?
I am planning a cruise and have narrowed it down to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise lines, can anyone give me any information on the two and which is the better choice? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think that both are great lines but I think that Celebrity has a bit more attention to detail, a greater variety of food and just an overall better experience. I think that the crew to passenger ratio is smaller so you get more individualized attention. I think they are both great lines so whatever you choose you will have fun. Just do some more research read reviews, and travel guy had a great answer.
