well so far i love zoloft it has worked almost instantly for me so if it hasnt worked to ur advantage by now then it probley wont. talk to ur doc. paxil worked great for me but the weight gain was not so great. try to get over those anxious feelings, meds are not the complete fix, it takes work on ur part, try relaxation and distraction. its normal to feel that way sometimes its not normal if it gets so bad that it affects ur everyday functioning. u dont want to be numb and have no feelings at all.

I have been put on Zoloft as well as several similar and found some symptoms, particularly anxiety, depression and agitation worsened and I had to stop them.
I have yet to find one that has given me any relief, short or long term. I have various side effects on any type of anti depressant of that type, Effexor, mirtazapine, Aropax all with the similar and sometimes scary side effects, such as sleep walking, severe restless legs, nightmares, twitching, muscle aches, headache, agitation and insomnia and even suicidal thoughts, which I know were the tablets as I never feel this way normally.
I no longer take any and I'm no worse for it, unfortunately no better either. These are not short term effects, but last however long I have persisted with the drug.
But that's just me and when it comes to antidepressants everyone's different. In my opinion as someone who has taken anti depressants on and off for over 20 years, whatever side effects you get will worsen if you stop them too quickly - have your doctor's back up.
I do take xanax on a daily basis together with therapy as I can in no way cope on my own, but have yet to find a suitable anti depressant and I hate having to have taken xanax for so long.

Depending on where you are in your treatment, it might be time to increase your dose or change medications.
FDA approved SSRIs for generalized anxiety disorders are Zoloft, Paxil, and Lexapro.
Unapproved drugs include Effexor, Buspirone, and Imipramine. These are not SSRIs. Imipramine is a tricyclic, Buspirone is a serotonin agonist, and Effexor is a SNRI.
First line treatment is the SSRIs, followed by Effexor, followed by either Buspirone or Imipramine.
You might want to consider adding a drug for the somatic symptoms you are suffering. A drug like metoprolol or clonidine might work to help the racing heart and shakiness.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

If you are still having those symptoms, the medication is not working for you. Talk to your doctor about a different anti-depressant. Wellbutrin is good and it doesn't have sexual side effects. The same with Effexor XR, but if you decide to stop taking it you will need to wean down from it as it has highly addictive qualities. Good luck.

Talk to your Doctor. I took Zoloft once and it did not work for me. It infact made me even more depressed. I now take Lexapro. Uh it is wonderful. I take just 5mg and I am so much more at ease. I am living life like you are supposed to enjoying the little things. There are so many other meds you can try. Have an open mind - you just have to try them.
