I have the DCR-HC28 and I know you need an i-link cable and i-link dvd/vcr player, but is there any other way to record from tv to camcorder without these things.

Just play whatever you want to tape and record it. It is better if you have a flatscreen. There isn't bars running down the screen. If it's on a DVD, and your computer can play DVDs, search Google for DVD ripper and download whichever. Then click rip DVD.
What do you want to do? Do you want to put it on a website or make a video? I could give information easier if i knew what you were trying to do. I'm saying this becuse there's other steps to this.
