It's between a ford 2006 GT mustang, and a 2000 green V6, which is all supped up, alot of things done to it, for example, stereo system. Which do you prefer?

I would say definitely consider the mileage in your decision. I purchased a green 2000 V6 Mustang in April of last year for $5000. I've never had a single problem with it, so when it was time for my husband to get a new car, he bought a red one for $5600. You get about 20 miles to the Plus gallon, not sure about regular, and the insurance really isn't that bad. From what I've read from Mustang Forums on the internet, the smog pump (which was only used for 2-3 years) is a common problem with the 2000's. It won't really affect the performance but you're bound to pull the trouble code P1413 or P0411 and it will drive you insane!! The 2006 mustang GT probably has less miles and this is a plus, but why would someone want to sell their car that is less than a year and a half old? Look into that... It might have hidden problems. Also, insurance, gas and routine maintenance is going to be WAY more expensive. I would go with the 2000, but thenagain I probably have a very biased opinion... LOL Whatever you choose, have the car inspected before you strike up a deal... Hope I helped...

Desoto... its 99-04. The 05 is the same as the 06.

Get the GT. Why bother with a v-6? The gas mileage on the old v-6 isn't any better than the 3 valve v-8 that the s197's have in them. And letting a stereo influence your decision? Yikes. Sure the v-6 may have some performance parts on it, but think of a v-8 with similar parts... As for replacing the motor, you would have to do a complete driveline upgrade so you arent snapping axles or input shafts every time you dump the clutch. By then you will have put enough in to the v-6 that you could have bought the 06 V-8.

if it is a 2000 MANUAL V6, then i would choose that. you can always add a GT or Cobra motor, add some magnaflow or bassani exhaust, and then put your "extras" in. I love the 99-05 body style. The 06 body style i am not too fond of...( yes, for anyone who may wonder, i do own a mustang)

Honestly i wouldn't get either but if i had to chose. I'd go with the GT. Unless of course you're looking for good gas mileage. Cuz they are insane right now. In that case get the V6.

gregthomasparke is obviously not a Ford man or he would know that GT's are all V8's.

The 06 being newer would be more reliable and last longer.
The V6 may have eye appeal but, depending on how "supped up" it is, may end up blowing up in your face.
You can always modify the GT later.

Mustang GT, I'm assuming its with a V8. If its with the V6, then piss on them. Mustangs are made for power, A mustang with a V8 is king, throw in a V6 and you took his balls away.

I'm doing a Mustang conversion to my Ranger, getting rid of my balless 2.9L and giving it a engine that was made for one thing, power. The good ol' 5.0L/302ci.
