I had my father with Alzheimers until 4pm yesterday.
I'm sorry to hear you are going through the same. It is the ugliest desease I've ever come across! Apart from forgetting who they are, who you are, and how to eat, drink, walk and talk, the aggressiveness it creates in the patient is a nightmare for the carer.
I said my goodbyes to Dad long before the desease took over his life, and you should make your peaces with your granddad before you lose him fully to that desease. Watching him deteriorate becomes a fraction more bearable knowing it's not your loved one but the remains of a horrible desease.
Good luck!

My grandfather died last May and he had it too. It is very hard to see someone you love go down that path. The only thing you can do is try to see him more often and treasure every moment with him. There is no easy way to deal with this horrible disease. Make sure your family get's him on medication for it. There is no cure but the meds do slow it down a bit. Slowly he will start to lose his ability to communicate fully and will start to lose the ability to walk and keep his balance. This might be a few years from now so don't panic just yet. My prayers are with you, just stay strong. On medication, he has some time before things get really bad. Until then, talk to him and be around as much as you can. Other than that, take care of yourself and family. They say it's harder on you guys and that's true! One day at a time my friend. God Bless!

My mom has it. My advise is if you can't see him often, the phone goes anywhere. Call him often. It is hard to understand this disease. I will pray for your grandpa and you.
