new heaven and new earth is symbolic

If these texts (2 Peter 3:7, 10 and Revelation 21:1)
mean that the literal planet Earth is to be consumed by fire, then the literal heavens (the stars and other heavenly bodies) are also to be destroyed by fire.

Such a literal view, however, conflicts with the assurance contained in such texts as :
Matthew 6:10,…( Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth)

( Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon
( and )
…(psalm.104:5), He has founded the earth upon its established places;

It will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever
.
( Proverbs 2:21, 22)…(21 For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. 22 As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it)

Furthermore, what effect would fire have on the already intensely hot sun and stars? So the term “earth” in the above-quoted texts must be understood in a different sense
.
At these verses the term earth was used in a ......

figurative sense:

Genesis 11:1(mankind)----…. Now all the earth continued to be of one language and of one set of words.

First Kings 2:1, 2(human society)…----- And the days of David gradually drew near for him to die; and he proceeded to command Solomon his son, saying: 2 “I am going in the way of all the earth, and you must be strong and prove yourself to be a man.

Note that, in the context, at 2 Peter 3:5, 6 (also 2:5, 9), a parallel is drawn

with the Flood of Noah’s day, in which wicked human society was destroyed, but Noah and his household, as well as the globe itself, were preserved..

peter 3:5,6-----For, according to their wish, this fact escapes their notice, that there were heavens from of old and an earth standing compactly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God; 6 and by those [means] the world of that time suffered destruction when it was deluged with water

Likewise, at 2 Peter 3:7 it says that the ones to be destroyed are “ungodly men.”

He the true God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: ‘I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.’” (See also Isaiah 55:10, 11.)

Keep in mind that when God expressed his purpose for the earth he said: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth.” (Gen. 1:28) God gave man the ability to procreate, and when His purpose in that regard is fulfilled He can cause procreation to cease on earth

so we cannot say it is literal new earth or heaven.....cause the earth is here to stay(isaiah 45:18)

and he used earth in many verses as symbolic like in kings and genesis

new earth..........is new in a sense that new.....residents in a paradise earth like that of adam and eve........new righteous people.......no more wicked

new heaven..........with new co rulers (revelation 5:9,10)
with a number to rule over the earth......to rule people on paradise earth

that number who were bought from the earth are going to be co rulers with christ...

Revelation 14:4
These are the ones that keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes
.....These were bought from among mankind

I don't think it interprets as God destroying the universe. Heaven as the place where God hangs out and heavens as the greater universe are not the same thing. God is making a new Heaven because at the end of the 1000 years in Heaven were he currently resides), he's moving to take up residence on Earth, after he's had the final battle and destroyed sin and cleaned up the place. (Think of it not so much as destroyed as having the place exterminated and re-modeled.) :)

The interpretation of a new earth and a new heaven could also mean a different star and solar system as well. So, there would then be unfamiliar stars in the night sky.

Everything got messed up all the way up to the Throne Room of GOD. (Throne Room is on planet Heaven). (right now!)

The new heavens and earth will not have unrighteousness in it (won't be messed up spiritually).
No more devils, satan, sin or curse.

It will be wonderful.

Hope this helps.

He heard that there were many unhappy oranges that were forced to be made into juice for the people to consume.

Why? Because men wrote the bible, therefore I can't believe any word written in it!

He didn't destroy anything. New means a thing has just been made. It doesn't mean anything old has been destroyed.

Because he has a lust for destruction and mass killings. (Noah's ark, anyone?)

He claimed that He would never do something like that again, but what the hell would the apocalypse be?
