OK I am about 99.9% sure it no virus, nor macro, i haven't played witht he keyboard, and I'm still stuck, though I got a few good answers.

When I highlight and back space on Word, it just goes to the start of the highlighted text. Anyone know anything?

I have scanned my computer. I ALWAYS do a full scan, and I get zilch. So if it is, I can't see it. But i think it's just a word thing.

You may have changed the editing options.
Click on the Tools menu and select Options. Click on the Edit tab to bring it to the front.
Under 'Editing Options' put a tick before 'Typing Replaces Selection' and click OK, and you should be able to use the backspace to delete selected text instead of the cursor going to the start of the word.

I don't blame you - I'd be mad too.

Is it doing it in any other program? If not, you could try re-setting your keyboard settings in word. (I have 2007 so I'm going by memory). Right click on your toolbar and select customize at the bottom.

There should be something that says Keyboard or Keyboard shortcuts. Then select Reset All.

You may also want to check to see if you have the over-write feature on. If you have this on when you type over a word it writes over it instead of pushing it over (don't think that's the problem though).

Last resort - try unplugging the keyboard and plug it in again.

All the best.

I think youneed to scan your computer for spyware, which has been called the Hijacker , because some people have had their back-space key, back arrow, web browser, home page hijacked with this spyware. It does not always hijack everything. Just say it hijacks your web browser, you get on a certain site, then you either go to another page in that site, or another site, and you end up back on the same page you were on, so you keep trying, each time getting redirected to the same place, and each time, the people who own that site or page are jacking up the hits on that page or site, thus increasing their populatity on the web. Your anti spyware program should get rid of it.
