The two churches look on their clergy in different ways. They have different roles and different requirements based on doctrine. However, I think what you're looking for boils down to the issue that Episcopals can be either men or women, they are freely allowed to marry and have children. Openly gay/lesbian Epispocals have been ordained although this is causing a bit of a split in their church.

On the other hand, did you know that RC priests in African and other countries are allowed to marry and have children? Those changes had to come about because there simply weren't enough candidates in those areas to enforce all the "rules".

Allow me to correct a few inaccuracies in the answers that have already been posted. first of all. Latin Rite priests are disciplined according to their vow not to be married but there are exceptions according to the permission of the bishop where former Lutheran, Episcopal/Anglican and Moravian ministers may, even if married, become Catholic priests in the Latin Rite Church.

In all there are 23 Rites in the Catholic Church and it is only the Latin Rite Church that has the discipline of their priests to not marry. All other Rites allow married priests. That is probably why a previous poster said the the celibacy discipline is not enforced in the Latin Rite Church.

Episcopal or Anglican Priest can marry, Roman Catholic can not. The leader of the Episcopal Church is the leader of England, Queen, or King - the Pope is for the Roman Catholic.

The Catholic priest is in communion with the successor of Peter and has valid orders. The Episcopal "priest" is not in communion with the successor of Peter and very likely does not have valid orders.

Catholic Priests prefer boys and Episcopal Priests prefer girls. Also (not 100% sure) I thank EPs are allowed to have sex where the RC isn't (not that it stops them).
