spinning is great...you can burn 500 calories in a 40 minutes work out...up to 800 for an hour ride

Rowing, running, interval training, stair climbing. In particular, anything that works several large muscle groups at a time will be an OUTSTANDING calorie burner.
Again, I highly recommend rowing if you have the equipment available. Otherwise, interval training is your golden ticket. You'll need to have a track (or football field) available for that. It's not safe to do interval training on uneven surfaces (even plain 'ole road).

but a very effective workout is a mini trampoline or rebounder.
