in my opinion tattoos are not taboo but i guess everybody has a different view of them.
~i love good tattoos that are well done and tasteful. i am not one of those people who is a fan of all tattoos just because they are tattoos. there are a lot of crappy tattoos out there and a lot of crappy tattoo artists and i think that sucks.
~i do have tattoos. i have a skull on top of my right foot. a takeout box with a fortune cookie on top of my left foot. a koi with lotus flowers, lava rocks and a sea turtle on my back. when it is finished it will be a full back piece.
~no two people get tattoos for the same reasons. some get them in memory of someone, some in tribute to their heritage, some for inspiration and motivation, some for artful reasons. some just because it is "cute" or "cool" (not the best reasons in my opinion) everybody is different. i have always been fascinated with tattoos and got one the day i turned 18. i am now 25 and am still in love with tattoos.
~tattoos are taboo to some people because it is a variation from "the norm" and because maybe initially in america they were had by native americans and they were thought of as being "savages" and then sailors began getting them. i guess sailors have a reputation for being wild and crazy. then it went on to be thought of as a criminal thing and so on. people are slow to change their opinions about things in general. slowly but surely people are coming around to the fact that you aren't a criminal just because you have tattoos. i like to think that i am one of the people that give tattoos a good name!

Tattoos are cool I have 5 my wife has 12 people get tattoos to show their love of art and objects of affection. That affection could be a rose or a skull or whatever they are into. The main reason tattoos are taboo is the bible says treat your body as a temple and most people belive that means you shouldn't alter your bodys apperance, but a temple is a place where you gather to worship and if you look at the walls there is art and stained glass. People adorne their body with art work to improve it. Another reason they are taboo is that tattoos were used by bikers and convicts and gang members as a symbol of loyalty. That was a long time ago tattoos are the in thing now. Many people collect art and show it of on their walls, people who get tattoos are using thier bodys as the canvas and the wall to show thier art work off

I am Christian, and I have two tattoo's. I really am not arrogant enough to think that putting ink in my skin is going to offend the Creator of the universe. Aren't we all just dust? Why would a piece of dust credit so much attention from the Creator of the universe. The Bible also says that it is a sin to divorce. I know a lot of Christians that are divorced. Some of those Christians have even critiszed me for having a tattoo. What does it really matter in the end? In 100 hundred years is any body going to care that I have tattoo's is God going to care? NO. As long as what I do does not hurt anyone what is the problem?

What do you think of tattoos? - I think they are amazing expressive forms of art. Tattoos can depict so much more than butterflies or skulls, it's all in what they mean to the person sporting them.
Do you have any? - Yes, I have 6. 3 of which run together into one HUGE piece.
Why do people get tattoos? - Because their friend got one, because its a fad and they had to follow it, or, because they wanted to permanently display something that they loved enough to have it placed on their body for life.
Why are tattoos taboo? - We aren't born with them...they are known for depicting gang signs/cult symbols. They are out of the norm, and not easily removed.

I like tattoos. I have three of them myself and want one or two more. I think people get tattoos just because they want too. they either like a design of something or a saying or that symbol means something personal to them, so in the end people get them because it means something to them. Tattoos aren't taboo many cultures see them as tradition. Some may think they are taboo but they might just not like them and feel everyone should reject them.

I like tattoos, but not too many or gaudy. I have one on my lower back I got in January for my 18th birthday. I drew it myself and wanted to get it because I had always wanted a tattoo, ever since I was about 13 and I drew it myself. I didn't know they were considered taboo, maybe because people think you shouldn't modify your body.

1. to each his own.....
2. 8
3. various reasons (some not always good ones)...for artistic purposes, self-expression, as a form of self-mutilation (like cutting), adrenaline rushes, and some people do it to be "cool" or fit in
4. it's getting better. it used to be something only certain people did. now more and more people do it so it's less taboo. I still see a problem with it. people are always getting judged based on looks whether they like it or not. and there's always going to be people that think of tattooing as disgusting and that you are defacing your body.

-I think tattoos are fine... I'd like to maybe get a small one someday (except for my fear of needles)
-Nope, I'm only 16, but my dad has 2 and my mom has 1
- My dad got his because he just likes them. He thinks they are cool and I guess it's kinda a form of expression. I imagine it's the same for others.
-Tattoos aren't really taboo I don't think...
