I have been a WW member since January. I buy the monthly pass and it gives me access to the online tools as well as going to meetings and everything else.
I have the books and I like them because I can bring them with me to a restaurant or wherever else. I don't have a lot of time to be online, so I like the books better.
Online, they have all the points info as well as a place where you can put in a recipe of your own and that will calculate the points for you.
Good luck, I know people who have only done online and have done just as great as meeting attenders.

You can really jump start your weight loss with the South Beach diet at least for 2-3wks (the first phase)any more than that is a little boring. Then do Weight Watchers which is a great way to continue control your portion sizes and offers variety. I did it that way and lost about 20# in 3mos.

WW is great---contrary to put downs by others. i am an online member. I have lost 20 lbs on the Flex plan since Jan.
Online members pay $17 a month, do not go to meetings and get all the info online. If you follow the plan and exercise and drink water IT DOES WORK

either of them work really... depends on how you are.... I need the motivation of going a meeting really... so i go to the meetings to weigh in... it is a consistency thing for me... the online thing is good... but I already know all that stuff.... it's not news to me really.... but it's the consistency and the group meetings that help to keep me in line....
but some of the info you get in the meeting may not quite me online, and some of the info you may find easier online.... it just depends on what you need....online has chat rooms where you can ask question... etc.... i would not really buy the books if you want to go it alone, but rather try online first!

You have to be a paid member to get anything of the site. My husband and I just bought a set of books and a slide calculator (usually included with the books) off eBay. It works!!
Good luck

I will tell you the cheapest way to go about this. Get a buddy, make yourselves go to the gym and exercise at least 45 min for at least 3 out of 7 days. Stop eating read meat and cook more at home with olive oil. Save your money cause if you cannot do the things I suggested then WeightWatchers is a waste of money. Take it from someone who has heard pleanty of women and men nagging about not losing their weight even after being with WeightWatchers after years.

Why do you need to by books? Just decrease the amount of calories you are eating.
