Successful surgery depends upon what you're dealing with. For any type of brain surgery, one of the key aspects is preserving nerve function. Sometimes that means that the entire tumor can't be removed, but for certain low grade brain tumors limited surgery may be all that's needed. If there's nerve damage then often rehabilitation is needed afterward.

However, if you're defining 'success' as removing every single cell, but for many more aggressive tumors it may not be possible. For the most aggressive type, glioblastoma, surgery and other treatments help control but may not cure the disease. When cure isn't possible, then it's important to balance the side effects of treatment with those of the underlying disease.

Is this surgery that is coming up? If so, I wish you the best.

Standing there speaking and they're long past. Of the 2 take the aneurysm.

I had two friends with inoperable brain tumors. One had radiation therapy and went on to live his life. The other, for reasons I don't know, couldn't or wouldn't be treated. He grew progressively weaker and more out of control and died.

If the surgeon was unable to remove the tumor completely, it will grow back. Chemo and radiation only put off the inevitable, sorry.
