Last time I came into contact with an airbag it just pushed my glasses onto my forehead. I really dont even remember it inflating. By the time I realised what had happened it had deflated and was just hanging out of the steering wheel. I'd be more concerned about getting the propellant stuff in my eyes if I wasnt wearing glasses, whatever is in those things it burnt my hands and face.

No, the airbag hit you with great force for a split second, I have come into contact with one and aside from a couple of abrasions, the drunk driver that hit me didn't get charged with manslaughter.

If you're sitting at the proper distance then you have no worry as the bag will inflate by the time you make contact with it. If you're too close then you will get the force of the bag inflating, which is a lot of force.

If you have the polycarbonate lenses ("featherlights") they are considered safety lenses according to OSHA... I think you'll be fine

Ask your optometrist how breakable your lenses are.
