Fortunately for BBQ lovers, real Texas, Memphis, K.C. and (you forgot to mention) Carolina BBQ styles, each distinguished, now have independent (mostly) restaurants serving same over much of the country. They should be granted official Appellations of Origin and standards of identity (with legal enforcement like distinctive foods in Europe have) as there are too many large chains out there (like Dave's and several others) messing 'em up.
I prefer true Memphis style, followed by Texas, then K.C. then Carolina but love 'em all.

Some of the best bbq I have EVER had is at Pierces BBQ near WIlliamsburg, VA...the guy who started the place was from TN...this little restaurant is always packed...great food!

Had them all, like the KC style the best but there is some awfully good atmosphere in the hill country of Texas
