Whenever I take off a band-aid, it's always wrinkly, like my skin. And my skin is a whole different color than my normal color. Is it because whenever I wash my hands or something, the water goes into the band-aid and stays in?

But today, the skin under my band-aid is really itchy, so then I started scratching it. And now it hurts =( What's wrong?

By the way, the itchy part isn't on the cut, it's on the opposite side of my finger =(

The wrinkly skin and the different color are due to the water that gets under the band-aid. Because it's a somewhat enclosed area the water gets trapped and the skin soaks up the excess water resulting in what we know as "wrinkly skin". It's itchy because you have a band-aid on an area that is already "hurt" and usually you take the band-aid off when there is a scab left. This scab is not uses to such exposure to the air and thus results in the "itch" effect. - nothing is wrong it's normal, but to help it out uses some Bacitracian cream.

Firstly the itching could well be a sign that you are allergic to that type of band aid , so try a different type of covering.

Check your cut for signs of infetcion, redness, swelling, discharge a fever ect.

Finally it is wrinkly underneath as your skin sweats so the moisture builds up, so your skin looks like you have laid in a tub and got wrinkly. But not to worry the latest research on wound healing shows that contrary to popular belief wounds heal fastest if they are kept warm and moist so the band aid is doing this.

Yes, the lighter color of skin under a bandaid is from additional moisture retention. If the skin is really itchy after removing a bandaid, you may have developed an alergic reaction to the adhesive used on bandaids. I am very sensitive to any type of bandaid.

it sounds like you could have a mild allergic reaction to tapes. Some people have problems with different forms of adhesives on the skin. that would explain the itching possibly.

the discoloration can be due to the pressure on the skin for a long time due to the bandaid. Its like a smalll bruise. The wrinkles could be due to the lack of oxygen the skin is getting because it is covered.
