I started homeschooling last year(beggining my sophmore year)and I love it.It really has been the best decision I have ever made.I chose to homeschool, and approached my mother with the idea. She was worried about me missing out and stuff, but honestly I never really cared about prom, football gaames, dances, etc.but then again I have never really been a social butterfly...It just depends on the individual. If you feel like ten years from now you are going to regret homeschooling than by all means you should probably go back to school. And as far as college goes,we live in a very modern age and most colleges gladly accept homeschooled children.I find kids that are homeschooled are far more admirable then children who do not.High school is just one big building where they pretty much babysit you all day.I am glad to say that I will not regret my decision at all. My mother and I are 100% sold on homeschooling.I am proud to say I will be graduating this year at 16!Good luck to you and I hope you make the decision that is right for you.

I wondered the same thing. My mom found a REALLY cool homeschooling group nearby that does the dances, classes, and sports. I don't feel like I'm missing out on the high school experience at all. AND! I am already looking into colleges and graduating a year early. People in public schools don't often get an opportunity to do so.

My advice to you is to try homeschooling a little longer...at least the rest of this school year. Let me explain why.
1. You don't want to begin a pattern of starting and not finishing things. If you left your old school for anxiety reasons, then you need a break. Consider starting up with public school in the fall, but for now, stay home.
2. About your fears of missing out on high school...just by doing your schooling at home shouldn't limit your life that much. Many areas have home school groups that you can join to participate in team sports, art, science, and other activities. As long as you maintain a social life and stay connected with friends, you won't miss all that much...maybe just the anxiety you were having.
3. About college, you need to make sure that you are registering with the state as far as what is required for homeschooling. And then, make sure you are actually completing your studies as directed by the curriculum you are using. Be very careful not to fall behind or let hobbies take over your schooling. You should be able to record your grades on a transcript that will be acceptable to colleges. You will need to take the ACT and maybe other tests to send to colleges your last couple of years of high school.
Anyway, as long as it's what you want to do, I would say go for it. Just keep your interests well-rounded and pursue a variety of goals. Good luck!

I've been to high school--it wasn't so great. College was way better.
I know homeschooled kids who much prefer being home instead of being in high school. There is so much *they* would miss out on if they were in school and not homeschooling.
Hon, you're going to miss out on stuff no matter what you do. High school stuff is only seen as super special because people usually don't like the rest of high school (the classes, specific teachers, the homework, the exams...), so all the social stuff is the highlight of their lives. If you really like homeschooling, then keep going with it. You're enjoying your educational experience more than many students out there. And in the long run, you'd end up missing out on whatever homeschooling offers you that high school can't.
Oh, and don't worry about getting to college. You study hard and do well on SAT's, you'll get in.

You will be fine homeschooling. You will be able to go to college (which are REALLY the best years of your life). High school isn't all it's cracked up to be. Trust me, I was there. Yeah, I had fun, but I had more fun in college. I made some memories, but I have more and better memories of the time since then. I don't even talk to any of the people I was friends with in high school. We all went our seperate ways after graduation. It's just the way it is. You go to different colleges. You find work in different fields. You get married. You have children. You just move on. High school isn't really all that important in the grand scheme of things. (BTW-you should look into support groups in your area to see if they have cap and gown graduations and formal dances. I know my area does.)

I won't repeat the answers the other people have given...
What I tell my kids is, there is NO situation in life that is better in every aspect. You have to consider the pros and cons of each situation, then decide what is best. It sounds like you are only thinking of the 'pro' side of attending school, and there are many, many downsides. Don't believe it that high school is the best time of life - there are many, many people who would disagree with that. I'd advise you to go to a whole bunch of adults and ask them - 'if you could go back to being a teenager, would you?' There are not many people who would answer 'yes' to that question. I am not saying it is because they went to school, but there are many stresses in a teen's life that they will not face after they grow up, and could be avoided in a different environment.

i've asked myself the same question before i think everyone does at one point or another. but i wouldn't want to go back to high school because it was really bad for me being teased feeling self contious ect. I'm doing much better now. I know for a fact that just b/c I'm not going to High School I'm going to be having better years and memories than i would've there for sure.

You still can go to college. Rest assured of that.
Also, if your community has a homeschooling co-op, I would recommend joining that because many of them provide field trips, dances, extracurriculars, etc. If you like it, then keep on homeschooling.
