Phone booth wants $1 for a loca l call. (Used to be 10¢ not long ago). I thought it was a sound marketing principle that when something is not in demand (more ppl use cell phones than phone booths) you LOWER the price, not RAISE it. What's up with phone company logic??

Because if you had a cell phone you wouldn't be using the phone booth. Logic says that fewer people don't use phone booths because they have cell phones, so the phone companies know a few things:

A) they need to cover costs

B) fewer people are using phone booths

C) the people that use phone booths don't have a cell phone, so NEED to use the phone booth

so, people will pay MORE to use the phone booth and they will cover their costs

what's sound for one company isn't for another - and when is the last time any of us saw a commercial or advertisement for a phone booth?

Payphones cost a lot to maintain, especially with all the vandals targetting them. Personally, I have not seen $1 here, they are, and have been for a long time, 25 cents.

they are just trying to get everything they can. less people are using it, so they have to make keeping the phone booths operational, worthwhile.
