Actually you're running up against what's called "fundementalism". In a nutshell fundementalism (of any faith) believes that the word of the book (Bible, Koran, whatever) is the literal and exact truth, no matter how silly it may be or what metaphor it might be trying to tell.
Fundementalists will even try to "prove" their "truth" through what may look like science, but is actually their faith in disguise (pseudoscience). Some answers here fit into that catagory.
Look, evolution was proved a century ago and is the basis of modern medicine, biology, and genetics. Look it up.

If you are a Christian and believe in the Bible, God created man....he didn't evolve from some monkey. If he did, why are there still moneys around? Why haven't they turned human yet? It makes NO sense! If they had more of theory with some logic to it...MAYBE I could understand people questioning it more. But it has no logic whatsoever. I'm Christian and I know God created man. That's one thing I've never had a question on in my religion. I gave the science teachers a hard time in elementary school! Evolution is a THEORY for a reason.....theories are NOT proven facts!

Hi,
As a Christian, I don't think it's absolutely necessary to believe in anything the Bible doesn't say is absolutely necessary. If you look in the New Testament, there are only a few of these absolutely necessary things. Believe in Jesus as the Son of God, that he rose from the dead, etc.
Other things - like in what way you should understand creation - are intesting to explore, but they are not the basis for your salvation and relationship with God.
Some believe God spoke the entire world into existance in six 24-hour days about 6,000 years ago. And it is important to them to believe that. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Others believe the creation story from Genesis is only a metaphor. It contains a lot of truth and wisdom without being strictly factual. There's nothing wrong with this either.
Metaphors are throughout the Bible.
Jesus wasn't literally a vine and we aren't literally branches. These statements aren't factual, but they are full of truth and wisdom that you can get a lot out of.
Personally, it doesn't matter to me. I find both views and all the views in between interesting, but it's not the basis of my relationship with God. The teachings of Christ were about love your neighbor and caring for each other.
In the Parable of the Goats and Sheep, Jesus separated people based on how they took care of even the least of his brothers and sisters.
There's no translation of the Bible that ends that parable with "...and you didn't believe the world was made in six 24-hour days in 4,004 BC at 9 a.m."
So study and read and discuss, but keep your eyes on what is important.
And when narrow-minded jackasses get on your nerves, take it as an opportunity for spiritual growth.
That works for a lot of things.
Loves,
Chuck

they have denied it regardless of the undeniable fact that. The church HAS repressed the thought of Evolution, they have denied astrology, they have denied technology on quite a few events, and nevertheless, they do no longer enable woman into the Hierarchy of Catholicism, even regardless of the undeniable fact that the unique founding for such is predicated on the argument females bleed as quickly as a month because of the fact of sin. Christianity will continually attempt to locate the thank you to stay proper, yet all you ought to renowned is to make certain how clarification overrules reason by utilising listening to the argument: "7 God day's are diverse then Human days". the entire ingredient is Jargon. in case you think in Christ, then do what Christ pronounced to do,

For me, math has to be the deciding factor. Mathematical probability, as given by Hoyle, states that the chances of life to spontaneously evolve out of a primordial soup is one in 10 to the 40,000 power. Now scientists agree that anything beyond one in 10 to the 50th power is consider an impossibility. So imagine adding 39,950 more zeros onto those odds!
Can we use math in proving the existence of God? Actually, yes we can. God has provided the proof through prophecy. No other "holy book" can provide prophecy beside the Bible, and it is the Bible that declares a Creator God. Prophecy traces the origin of the Bible to being outside of our physical time domain. It reads in Isaiah 41:22-23,
"Let them bring forth and show us what will happen; let them show the former things, what they were, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare to us things to come. Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods; yes, do good or do evil, that we may be dismayed and see it together."
So, let's look at this mathematically. Dr. Peter Stoner (in an analysis that was carefully reviewed and pronounced to be sound by the American Scientific Affiliation) states that the probability of just eight prophecies being fulfilled in just one person is 1 in 10 to the 17th power. However, Jesus fuflilled 300 specific prophecies. A few of which I have documented here...
http://www.schneblin.com/studies/pdfs/in_the_volume_of_the_book.pdf
This is not even including the incredibly detailed prophecy regarding the regathering of Israel, the rise of Alexander the Great and later Ptolemy in the book of Daniel, and much, much more.
So, mathematically, the odds are in overwhelming favor of the Creator God written in the pages of the Bible rather than in the overwhelming odds against evolution.
So, as a Christian, who are you going to believe using just basic math? Finite man that only can come to conclusions based on observable physical evidence? Or the infinite God that can see the past as well as the future all in one glance? Who would you think would have the better grasp of how the human existence came in to being?

I believe the earth is over 4 to 5 billion years old.
I believe Adam and Eve were not the first human beings on this planet.
What happened befor about 6000 years ago (when GOD made Adam outta dirt) I don't really know but am curious.
If you can prove GOD used evolution to do something, then prove it.
I am interested. GOD can do anything.
GOD made dinosaurs didn't HE?
Where'd they go?
and Bravo to the math up above me. Well done.

Basically I believe is cause of this:
Romans 5:12 (New International Version)
Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned—
According to the scriptures death entered through one man, that being Adam. And most bible scholars agree on the biblical timeline so Adam lived about 6000 thousand years ago. So that means that nothing could of died before Adam. Their couldn't be dead animals or people before Adam dating back millions of years. Hope this made sense?

No true Christian would believe in the evolution theory. It goes against the teachings of the Bible. If you are a Christian you hold the Bible as the true word of God.

Mainly because evolution teaches that death came before man hit the scene.
Genesis states that "God created man in his own image" and when he surveyed all that he created, it was very good.
The key lies in those last two words.."very good". According to Genesis, how could the world be "very good" if there had been a period of time (or millions of years) of death before man arrived on the scene?
