I don't believe the US will vacate the middle east anytime soon. Twenty years or more, would be my guess. I'm not being flippant, all one need do is look around at other country's where we have had an occupation force, and you will see that we don't vacate expeditiously !

If the Democrats have their way, probably 2008. If the Republicans have their way, when they say so. Either way even if we leave Iraq I still think the U.S. will be fighting in the Middle East for generations to come.
