A $1 bill only cost 3¢ to make. Same with a $5, $10, $20, $50, and a $100 bill.
It's only worth the number it says on there because the government says so. To prove that I don't give a damn what the government says, I ripped up two $20 bills. People got really mad at me and tried to put the money back together, but it's kind of hard to do that when the only way to pick the pieces up is with tweezers. =D

...I got beat up... It hurt. Money didn't cost me anything, it gave me bruises!

The real cost of currency is the value of the favor you must for someone else to give you that currency.

If you do twenty dollars worth of service or give someone twenty dollars worth of goods, they will give you twenty dollars worth of currency.

You can in turn use that currency to obtain a favor from someone else.

Currency is useful to make your services portable. You may not be able to provide a good or service to a plumber, however, you may be able to give that plumber a haircut, however, the plumber may not need a haircut when you need his services. So, instead, you trade this token twenty dollar 'currency' for his services.

When the plumber needs a haircut, s/he can trade the twenty dollars for a haircut from any barber.

The trouble comes in when someoone's life becomes so out of balance in hoarding these favors, that their family life becomes threatened.

The other time there is trouble, is when the negotiations over the price of the goods and services becomes nasty. If a seller can command unfair prices for a good that is in short supply, the buyer might become upset. Usually these unfair prices are a temporary abberation, since the buyer can usually find another supplier or a substitute (or do without).

Another cause for problems arises if people hoard money so much that they are unwilling to help someone in need. (This is the equivalent of doing a favor, worth some currency, for nothing of value in return). It is good to do some altruistic or charitable giving, in balance.

mm more than likely yes. We pay money to adopt animals so they are sure we will treat them right. If people were given animals for free, they might use them for animal testing or something else. But more than likely if someone has to pay or an animal they won't use them for testing.. So is probably the same with children. Only they cost more lol

If by "cost," you mean "value," then as with all things, it is measured not by it's intrinsic value, but rather the value of what is lost, or what you are willing to give up to attain it. Also, what position does money hold in your life? Is it just a tool, or is it something more precious?

Money only has the value that we as society give it.

In the 60's I could fill my friends gas tank for $2.75 (.23/gallon), but I only made .25 cents an hour at the dairy queen. I worked in the school cafeteria, got my lunch for free and made .25 cents an hour, but I got to meet every kid in school who ate at the cafeteria. Amazingly a lot of those kids still remember me even 45 years later!

I used that money to pay for kids lunches who had been bullied out of their lunch money, the teachers would ask if the student could come through. I used it for Christmas presents for the family. I used it to buy school supplies in my English class for the teacher to pass out to students who couldn't buy it themselves (and he didn't give me a better grade in English, but I got an A+ in citizenship from him).

I've done stuff like that all my life. A small package here, and an envelope there. Just small stuff. Once I gave a couple my entire week's pay in cash in an envelope with their name on it and left it in the Pastor's office. During church I watched them looking at everyone coming in for the service and I just smiled to myself. No one knew who had done that. No one ever guessed it was me. It hurt a bit, but I got over it. No need to make people feel obligated.

I've never had a large amount of money, just enough to get by and to make myself feel good. Now that I'm older I sometimes wish I had saved those nickles, dimes and quarters, but then I have memories of the expressions on the peoples faces that I helped. Most of the time they never knew it was me. I didn't want them to.

Money only has power over you if you let it. Most of the time, life isn't about the money, it's about soul. Yours, mine, everybodies. It hasn't cost me a thing, but it has given me peace of mind and soul.
