Because human being were still in existence. As long as there is someone living, with their free will, and the opportunity to choose to break the relationship with God there is always the opportunity for sin. It was apparent in the garden even before it manifest itself in the actual deed. People can always turn away from God. Pre-flood it had just gotten so bad that he unleashed his wrath, which fortunately he promised never to do again. Otherwise, he might have already done it again.

Do not believe it. The religions who insist on that till this time are merely trying put your life in guilt so that it will be easy for them to control your mind. The original sin may not have been erased after the flood because it still have to go to seven generations of the Jews and does not include people who were never Jew. It was made clear by God of the Old Testament after the Exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land. God have started that in His declaration in Deuteronomy 24:16 Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor the children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.
This was furtherly strengthened by Ezekiel 18:3-26 when God said and implied the same thing.
This also will prove to you that the Christian invented that original sin campaign to control the masses because with all that was said in Deuteronomy and Ezekiel, it already contradicts the words of God as written by the Prophets. Jesus did not come to save the world from sin,"He came only for the lost sheeps of Israel" aside from claiming that "He did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill the law". Read the New Testament and get all the words that Jesus said about himself and compare it to what his apostles are saying about him.

Good one. Noah got drunk and his wicked son did a wicked thing to him; then the idiot went and bragged to his brothers about it.
God must have been disgusted: Just think about it...'God to Himself...omg, I just destroyed the entire known world with a flood because of wicked behavior and this sick jerk does this' !!!! That's it, I'm walking away from them !! God mumbling to self as He walks away: "for crying out loud, that stupid boy was one of 8 people I personally saved, and he goes and does THAT to his father. I think I am going to hurl'!!!
Then God paused and went back to the Ark and proclaimed an everlasting curse upon Ham and all who ever come out of his loins !! God is NOT a weak, sentimental, pacifist old fool!! God plays hardball.
Mockers: beware !!
And it is written, in the ancient days: "God did not communicate much with man"...Can you blame Him? I sure don't.
