My lab will be a yr the end of this month. We got him fixed back in Sept. I thought getting them fixed meant they didn't hump anymore. He doesn't really try to hump us but like if someone comes over he doesn't see often he will try and hump them
Is this normal? Is he just excited??

I agree that you should look into the dominance thing. As a young male, he's jockeying for position in your pack (ie, family). Start reasserting your role as pack leader with the dog... do not let him out the door or through a gate ahead of you, make sure that he knows his basic obedience, and teach him to heel when walking on leash. At his age, he should have a good grasp of most types of manners and will do better if he learns them rather than doesn't. Biologically he does not have any hormones driving the humping behavior by now, and he really ought not be doing that to people by now. Teach your guests how to assert themselves, too, with whatever commands you use successfully with the dog.

If he does it with another dog in your house, that's not quite the same thing; he's just showing the guest dog that it is not at home.

Thats happened once with my male lab and he is fixed. But I thought it was because he was excited cause I was feeding him. But its never happened before that and hasnt happened since then. I have two male lab mixes, 6 and 2. And they both have never done that.

Hmmm.. My dog is spayed (yes, she's a female) and HUMPS like crazy! She only does it to her big stuffed duck though (she's a Bichon Poo) and when she's hyper. I suppose it has little to do with spaying/neutering in many cases. Could be because he gets hyper, like my dog.

you dog does not hump because it is horny it humps to show who is the king of the house. you should be in control of your house hold. it is a domain thing. you will just have to train your dog that it is your domain, and they do not run the house.

It can be a dominance issue and you should not allow it.
