It tells you that your body is going through some major changes and you aren't going to feel like a little kid anymore. You are changing physically, but also emotionally and mentally.
You're faced with decisions which may not be monumental, but they are things you need to think about and invest in. Your parents probably still tell you what to do for the most part, but because your classes are getting a bit more challenging, and your social life is getting more complicated, you can't take life quite as lightly as you have up 'til now. And maybe your parents don't know everything you're thinking and feeling anymore, like they did when you were younger.
Maybe you have just a little bit of sadness about growing up. Kids seem so eager to be grown up, but it's also scary in some ways. Maybe you feel pressure from your peers about certain things and that makes you confused or sad at times. Your hormones are kicking in, and that can make you all of the above!
I wonder if some of your friends are feeling the same way, but don't want to talk about it because they think they're alone in those feelings. If your sadness and confusion affects your ability to do school work and have happy times, you may need to talk to someone about it, like your doctor or school counselor. But truly, I think you are very normal and very aware, which is ok. :)

It's important to realize that although you're going through puberty and the associated physical and emotional changes, it could be that you could benefit from some counseling. If your school has a guidance counselor, make an appointment. Just about everything said must remain confidential, unless you state that you plan on doing anything that may cause harm to yourself (self-injury or suicide for example) or to others (including property damage). Depending on the state you live in, you can get confidential psychological counseling outside of school. You don't necessarily need to be diagnosed with anything, and a registered counselor is there only as a trained person to talk to. They do not do psychiatric evaluations, so don't worry about being put on medication. There are also some important factors that the other people answer did not discuss, and these are:
1. Have you been having family/home problems? (if so for how long and to what extent?)
2. Have you been having social problems at school and/or with friends? (if so, for how long and to what extent?)
3. Have you been having academic problems in school? (Is it too easy? Too hard?)
4. Do you get more depressed and/or anxious prior/during/ or after certain events?
Most likely you're following the typical emotional growth patterns of other young teenagers; however, many cases of suicide begin at a stage such as your's. Although you don't seem to be near that phase at all, it's important to remember a few things about depression and suicide:
1. There is not such thing as something that is "not important enough to get depressed/kill yourself over." What really matters is the emotional response to the event and the tipping factor.
2. There is nothing shameful about stating you feel depressed, the earlier you ask for help, the easier it will be to learn various coping mechanisms.
Finally, if you need someone to talk to, but can't get a counselor/want to remain anonymous try calling your local crisis line. There are various confidentiality rules. For example some, if you threaten harm against yourself or others, they may send police officers (if they have tracking devices), but the majority of calls never get that far. Others, like the one I plan to work on are completely confidential.
If you have any questions or want me to help you find the number to a good crisis line, I'll help you out. :)

It tells you that you keep feeling weird pains and confusion and sadness. JK.
It tells you that you need to relax. Although I'm sure plenty of people feel/felt this way in middle school somtimes. I know that I do sometimes.
Maybe you're just too stressed or maybe things are just tough for you right now. Relax a little, you don't need to have perfect grades, and have some good fun with your friends. Nothing destructive though...

That you are completely NORMAL! I think every person your age feels it even if they don't show it. I know that I sure did.
