i already know what im getting myself into as in what i will be seeing and things that i need to do as far as wash hands, gloves, masks etc. Just to anyone who has worked as a ma in an infectious disease office before what kind of horror stories are there, things i should and should not do.

everyone who as answered so far has simply been rude, except one. comments like "grow up" and " guess u weren't in class THAT day" are just completely rude! i come on this site for help, not jerky comments. so thank you, for nothing.

The key thing is to wash your hands and then wash them again.

If you don't know the fundamentals of infection control and the precaution's to take ,you should tell your instructor,or start cramming, before you go in that office. You act as though you're about to enter a "Ebola virus" lab!. Grow up,it's a office, with people that are "sick" with the normal stuff, you catch more germs on the bus or subway. Hand washing and wearing simple gloves, will get you a very long way.You are training to be a medical professional, never make your patients feel "dirty", you must treat them with dignity and respect, always ! Take care. SW FNP
