If my home schooled child doesn't pass the annual Florida home school testing what will happen

What Annual Testing are you referring too, because I live in Florida and my little girl doesn't get tested.
You should be keeping a portfolio,a list of materials used and a calender(for attendance). You are required to produce the portfolio for a review at a 10 to 15 day written notice and at the end of the year have an Evaluation by someone who holds a degree in Education. This person will look at your child's portfolio, talk to the child and then discuss their findings with you before signing the Evaluation form (which you make a copy of,place ORIGINAL in the portfolio, and submit a copy to the proper department at the School Board). The wost that will happen is that your child may spend another year in their current grade.
A local Homeschool group can point you towards a Qualified Evaluator or you can call the Homeschool department of the SchoolBoard. You can also check on Craigs list under Lessons for an Evaluator (since I don't know where in Florida you are I can't personally recommend anyone...if you're in Orlando there is a really good one on Craigs list that I personally use). Also, you don't say what grade your child is in..... because the only tests I know of are FCAT and the SATs.
I wish you the best of luck.

My mother homeschools my 4 younger siblings (high school) in Florida and I assure you, there is testing. Anyone in Florida that is not testing is outside the boundaries of state law. My mother said (just now asked her) that if a child fails the annual test (that costs, she thinks $75 each if you want your results mailed to you) then they have one year to make up the work and pass it. If they fail again, they will be placed in school.

I don't think you can "fail" the test. Home Schooled kids don't have to take FCAT, just a standardized test like SAT or the such.

My children both take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills every year and do well. They only have to show progress in the scores from year to year. Its great because it breaks down the scores and shows any weaknesses they may have. You also can have them evaluated.

If your kids are doing anything at all at home, they will probably show progress each year barring any learning disabilities. Don't be stressed!

Blessings

Here's the full document:
http://hslda.org/laws/analysis/Florida.pdf

"“The school superintendent shall review and accept the results of the annual evaluation…. If the pupil does not demonstrate educational progress at a level commensurate with his ability, the superintendent shall notify the parent in writing....” The parent shall have one year to provide “remedial instruction” to the pupil. At the end of the “one year probationary period” the student shall be reevaluated to determine if he has progressed “commensurate with his ability.” Fla. Stat. Ann. § 1002.41(2)."

I don't know enough about your situation - but it is possible the state might require you to place your child into a public school.

Good Luck!!!
