The fine will be determined by the municipality that owns the camera. Traffic cameras in Illinois are usually operated by a municipal entity (city, town, county, ect...) and they set their own fines. Camera tickets are not like moving violations, but are more like parking tickets. They are extremely hard to fight. You do not go to court to fight them, instead you go before a hearing oficer. You will get a letter in the mail with the pictures from the camera, a letter demanding payment and instructions for requesting a hearing, all mailed to the address on file with Secretary of State. If you ignore this, you may get your Driver's license suspended.

Listen to Mike on this. You'll be notified by mail. You should appear if you can. get the exact location of the bridge, take a photo of the light or video and show how long the light can take. however, some of those do take time to change because it has to allow the traffic on the other side to clear. Maybe Soffee will pay the fine?

The camera's do work so do worry about paying the violation if you receive it in the mail. Wait for it. Failure to do so will result in a bench warrant for your arrest for failure to appear in court on the date provided on the ticket. You will not have to go to court if you pay the violation before the court date. Most counties allow you to pay for it at the clerks office. In Illinois it's a 75 dollar fine for running a red light and I believe this will apply to your story.
