You can enter a check box (that can contain a check mark or not). If the check box option is not already on your tool bar, click tools, click customize, choose the command tab, click forms, then click and drag the check box up to your tool bar. Be in the cell where you want it, and click on the check box icon. Wala!

Check Mark In Excel

With difficulty.

Go into Word. Do Insert and Symbol. Choose the WingDings character set, scroll down and click on the check mark. Copy it. Paste into Excel but then highlight the character (it won't be a check mark yet) and go to Format, Font and select Wingdings. Voila.

Good news, in 2007 this is a whole lot easier.

The best way is to format a cell or column to use Excel's own check mark graphic, added in this version via Icon Sets: - Select range where you want check marks (or also crosses) - Apply Conditional Formatting > Icon Sets > green check, yellow bang, red cross - Go to Conditional Formatting > Manage Rules > Edit Rule - Change the display rules: - - Check: >= 1 (number) - - Bang: > 0 (number) By default, no symbol appears for blank cells. If you enter 1, you will get a check mark. Enter a decimal (such as .5), and you will get an exclamation point (bang). Enter a zero, and you will get a cross. You can also change the CF formatting to "Show Icon Only". This way, you can still use the cell values in certain calculations: B1 = [ 0 for FALSE, 1 for TRUE; shows cross or check mark ] C1 = IF(B1, "Good Job!", "BACK TO WORK!!1")

Go to the Insert Menu, choose Symbol. It will bring up a list of different symbols you can use, including the checkmark. (Make sure under font it reads Symbol).
