Well, unless he opened a drycleaners, a Dunkin Donuts, a Starbucks, etc., why in the world would he be there are 5am? You don't give enough details to really know all that is going on, however, I would highly guess that his business isn't exactly corporate business.

No offence, but why are you asking us anyway? Why don't you simply ask him? I do my best to give very honest straight answers, and helpful ones too, but, this is really something for you to discuss with him.

If he won't tell you, or your gut tells you different, then you may want to do a little more research on it. There have been a few times in my past that I was involved with someone. They told me one thingg, and as much as I really wanted to believe them, my gut told me otherwise. It's called "intuition" and most people don't listen to it. Do yourself a favor and listen to what you are feeling. Life is too short to invest precious time in a relationship that ultimately will not take you anywhere but down.

Good luck. I really hope it is a Dunkin Donuts :-) and that he is not "dunkin his donut".

I don't know what kind of business he opened, but I don't think it sounds normal for him to be there that late. The fact that you're even asking this question tells me that you suspect something is going on with him. Are there signs besides him staying out late? Is he acting differently toward you? Has he become more secretive or defensive? Is he less affectionate lately? These are sometimes subtle signs that he may be spending time with someone other than a business contact. I think the best thing to do is talk to him about this before it goes any further. At least you'll know what's going on...good luck.

ummm no that is not normal, working late like maybe 10 or so sucks but 5am, yea surrrrre - he has a booty call. Why don't you swing by the office to bring him "coffee" one night and see if he is there and if he has company or not.
