I just started zoloft 25mg for panic disorder and i love it. im suppose to do 25 mg for two wks then up it to 50 mg. i feel great on the 25mg and id like to keep it low, my therapist says 25 isnt even a theraputic dose. its a starter dose, and 50 is the lowest. i feel good on 25 and would like to keep it low, has anyone ever just stayed on 25 and had it be successful?

I am a physician and have treated many patients on low dose anti-anxiety medicines, specifically 25 mg daily of zoloft. Every patient's system is different and I have seen many patients benefit from 25mg and have pushed others up to 200mg. I m not recommending that you ignore their advice, just giving you information on my experience.

To maintain a therapeutic level in your bloodstream you will need to up the Zoloft to 50 mgs. I was reading about it one time and this is what the pharmacy company said about it. You may feel less depressed on 25 but it may not be enough if you go into a full blown panic attack. The most important thing you can do is to be 100% medication compliant. If you don't follow doctor's orders it seems that you are trying to sabotage your own care. I would give the doctor's prescription a chance to work for you. Best of luck to you!

I was on Zoloft for Social Anxiety Disorder and it worked, but I went from 25mg to 50mg to 100 mg.. now I'm able to go out in public and be a "normal" person lol.. I can actually talk to people now, it's nice, but I'm not sure it would have turned out the same if I had stayed on 25mg.

Nope. But everyone responds to anti-depressants very differently.
