Scary answers so far - most anyway. Makes you wonder about the state of the educational system in the United States. When you can take pre-packaged garbage (yesterday's "wisdom") and get people to believe - even thousands of years later in the face of mountains of evidence against it - that's a really nice scam. Maybe, for the sake of our great great great great great great grandkids, we should start a religion.

People down through the ages have made certain gifted people more than what they were. Jesus wasn't the first spiritual leader to go down in "religious history" as being born of a virgin birth. He also wasn't the first to go down in myth as being swept off to the sky without dying. You see, us humans have a hard time with the unknown and the fact that the universal intelligence, whatever it is, can't be seen and is not human. Humans seem to have this weakness that makes them want to humanize any religious leader into a god so that it easier to believe in the concept of a God which must be like a human. The problem with people and their image and concept of God is just that. They are attached to a concept or image of God and this prevents them from a deeper insight into this universal intelligence that no man will ever understand. It is time for humans to embrace the unknown and just be in awe of that instead of deifying a gifted spiritual leader so that one has something more tangible to worship or pray too. I couldn't agree with you more. let the dead, rest in peace. If Jesus was alive and saw all this hocus pocus he would be dismayed. he tried to make it clear during his life that he was not good, but his father was.

He's not dead...

Luke 24:1 It was very early in the morning on the first day of the week. The women took the spices they had prepared. Then they went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from it. 3 When they entered the tomb, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 They were wondering about this.
Suddenly two men in clothes as bright as lightning stood beside them. 5 The women were terrified. They bowed down with their faces to the ground.
Then the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 Jesus is not here! He has risen! Remember how he told you he would rise. It was while he was still with you in Galilee. 7 He said, ‘The Son of Man must be handed over to sinful people. He must be nailed to a cross. On the third day he will rise from the dead.’”

I think religion keeps people from thinking about progress here. The old expression, "so heavenly minded, they are no earthly good" can be true. Lets work together for the good of mankind, NOW. If the religious put half the effort into defeating poverty that they put in spreading their doctrine, the world would be a much better place.

Jesus is the firstborn of the resurrected, the Son of the Living God! If He were dead, then who is this, inside of me, guiding, directing, and filling me daily with His glorious presence!! I just call out His name, and He's there! I just begin singing praises to Him, and He's all over me!! Just the tip of His little finger nail on my shoulder to let me know He's listening and He's there, and I turn into melted jello, for this mortal flesh can't ever contain the total immensity of the love of God!!! Get on with the living is what I intend to do, witnesses for my Jesus here on this board, daily if at all possible!

Jesus is alive as He is in Heaven with God. I don't know why people don't leave the dead in peace and get on with living.

there's a problem with leaving the dead in peace when you don't believe the person is dead.

I know! Jesus used to mow our lawns and piss me off with his leaf blower when I was trying to sleep in. But I didn't expect him to die in a leafblower accident. Now is family is spreading his ashes over my front lawn and I'm like, "Hey let Jesus Gonsalez rest in peace!" For Christ's sake people, come on.
