The text in no way indicates that he was superior to Christ...

Heb 7:1 Melchizedek was the king of Salem. He was the priest of God Most High. He met Abraham, who was returning from winning a battle over some kings. Melchizedek blessed him. 2 Abraham gave him a tenth of everything.
First, the name Melchizedek means “king of what is right.” Also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3 Melchizedek has no father or mother. He has no family line. His days have no beginning. His life has no end. He remains a priest forever, just like the Son of God.

The Hebrew writer indicates that Melchizedek was superior to Abram, who received a blessing from him and paid a tithe to him, but then CLEARLY presents the superiority of Jesus:

Heb 7:18 The old rule is done away with. It was weak and useless. 19 The law didn’t make anything perfect. Now a better hope has been given to us. That hope brings us near to God...
7:27 He isn’t like the other high priests. They need to offer sacrifices day after day. First they bring offerings for their own sins. Then they do it for the sins of the people. But Jesus gave one sacrifice for the sins of the people. He gave it once and for all time. He did it by offering himself.

Melchizedec was the one who brought the bread and wine to Abraham and thus invented communion. Every member of the Order of Melchizedec is also called Melchizedec, Jesus was a priest of the Order of Melchizedec. By the age of 30 the Christ force was fully incarnated into Jesus, from that point there was no one greater. Jesus became God.

Melchizedek was high priest in the Old Testament representing the law.

Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament law and is now the Supreme High Priest.

The Scriptures make a reference to Malchizedek when it speaks of Jesus, Malchizedek was not greater than Jesus but, Malchizedek was both a king and priest, Jesus was to be enthroned in heaven by his Father as King of the Messianic Kingdom and Jesus is also a High Priest of God.

Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God was a precursor of Jesus Christ. He is in no way greater than, Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Perhaps you missed these words, Jesus, spoke in Matthew 28:18:
"All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

Back to your question as to who, Melchisedec was? One evangelist has put forth his conclusion that this mystery man was none other than, Shem, the son of, Noah. I personally do not know.

"for this reason, merely as sin got here into the worldwide by using one guy, and dying by using sin, and so dying unfold to all men because of fact all sinned—for sin certainly became interior the worldwide formerly the regulation became given, yet sin isn't counted the place there is not any regulation. yet dying reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning became not in basic terms like the transgression of Adam, who became a sort of the only that became to come lower back." Romans 5:12-14 the full worldwide isn't being punished for Adam's sin. it is merely how sin entered the worldwide. We then inherited the empty way of existence from our ancestors and we for my area sinned. Jesus became God and the sole acceptable guy with out sin. by using taking our punishment, we've salvation. this is the thought of propitiation, the he died in our place. this is the the gospel message.
