Nationally, seatbelt use is mandatory in every vehicle for every passenger. I will add as a side note that I see loads of people riding around in the back of trucks down here in the Tampa area.... mostly landscapers though, and yes, they are on the highway too... In short: legal??? No.... can you get away with it??? Probably. Hope this helps.

I don't know about SC but I know it's legal in the rural areas of AZ. I used to drive down these two lane roads and watch kids bouncing up and down in the back of the pick-ups. I'd be thinking that if one of those kids gets airborne I'm going to be faced with the choice of killing the kid or killing myself and possibly somebody else trying to avoid him. Bad choices all.

It is legal in Illinois, and probably is in your state, but I suggest you call your local police station or the driver's license facility where you live. They would be only too happy to provide an answer.
If you drive with passengers in the bed of your truck, be very careful and slow down for bumps in the road and railroad tracks!

Not sure of it is legal or not, but if you do ride in the back of a pickup.....sit in the bed with your back against the back of the cab....and keep the tailgate closed........and be sure the driver does not drive around like a maniac.

It is probably not legal. Go to the D.O.T. (Department od Transportation)website for S.C.
You can probably find out there.

Try driving past a police officer with someone in the back of your truck....you'll find out really fast if there exists a law.

I'd bet it is in SC. Most places where it is legal, it's only legal if all of the seatbelts up front are being used.
