I'm half trini, and in my class, we have to find a myth on our heritage,and I wanna do Trinidad. I can't find any trinidad myths. Does anyone know anysites I can go to, or already know any trinidad myths? I could really use the help. Thanks!!!

So...
Like where I live right.. there's this story that this girl died while climbing on a tree. Which is true. When they eventually found her body... she was already rotted and could not be moved.
Instead her father built a stutue of her at the spot that she died but the very next day her head rolled away never to found...
Since then there have been many accidents near the spot that she died because the highway was built near there.
Legend has it that she comes out at night to look for her head which causes the accidents in the first place.

I can't think of any sites for you to go on but I can tell you that there are a lot of myths here in Trinidad. (1) the dwen. this is about a child who dies before being baptized/christened, and they return as children whose feet are back-wards. That is, if you're standing or sitting, the ankles of your feet are rotated 180 degrees to face the opposite direction. The story is that they lure litle children who are playing hide & seek in the dark, away from their friends and throw then into patches of thorn. (2) The socouyant - This is about an old lady who takes off her skin at nights hides it and changes into a ball of fire. She flies around as this ball of fire and goes into homes while they are sleeping and suck their blood. People would see a round black and blue mark about 1-2 inches in diameter on their skin mostly on their legs, back and belly area and wonder how it got there. The mark would be something like when some-one sucks on some- one's neck, only bigger & blue-black. They say to prevent the socoyuant from entering your home you can throw cooking salt around your house and it has to check every grain before it can enter. They say it's mostly the really old woman in the village that gets the blame. If any-one is suspected, they'll search her home in the night when she is out flying, find her skin and mixed it up with plenty salt and pepper so she'll be unable to put her skin back on. There is also stories about Papa Bois who protects the animals in the forest. La Diablesse a beautiful lady in a white dress who has a leg that looks like a cow. my grandma once told me about duppies. they are ghosts that come out at night, and to keep them out of your house you have to sprinkle rice/salt all over the house. and before the duppy can come inside the house, the duppy must count each grain of salt or rice, and by that time, the sun would have come out
