Simple, the people issuing the passports are civil servants. You scour the papers over the next few days and try to find a headline like this: "Passport Office sacks civil servant for gross incompetence in allowing passport application to go through unchecked", a long headline true, but you get the gist. You'll never read anything like this for one civil servant let alone the dozens of incompetent idiots they have working there. You may though read the usual clichés that the Government spouts at a time like this a "An inquiry has begun" or "Lessons have been learnt". It's enough to make you weep.
Bottom line: no one will be sacked and no one will be disciplined. Procedure will be blamed and many consultants will be brought in to examine those procedures.

most terrorists use their own passports,as you must know from recent events, even in usa,a couple of the 9/11 guys were in the phone book,i listened to an article on radio 4 last night about this, and maybe 1%of these passports are used for terrorism the rest is by criminals, but mainly illegal immigrants trying to stay in europe.i dont think we would have terrorists if britain hadnt bombed peoples countries, there was no need for it,i dont think you can blame these people for wanting to get back at britain and usa,the terrorists are not worried about france or germany or denmark etc, because those countries were sensible enough to keep out of it,although blair is bushes puppet, besides all the so called terrorist threat is partly an excuse to give the govt more power to spy on you and the police more power to shoot you.im english too.

It the duty of every citizen of U.S. to report all violations of the Constitution, or any other law in the U.S. If you do not you could be a terrorist helper, by not doing so and responsible for thousands of death for your failure.
And why let any one be here with illegal passport, or illegal? They just cause you a tax payer more money.

No idea about delays but it just shows you. They admit to 10,000 false documents, so what do you think the real figure is?

Also no mention of how many they had recovered or people arrested. This figure was also just for 1 year!!!

That's at least a 100,000 illegals since labour came to power on top of all the others.

Just cannot understand it. There are so many regulations about getting a passport for the English-born person. How did the Passport Office manage to issue so many, especially duplicate ones?

Its all a big **** up isn't it but nothing unusual, there are still all those crims running around that they released and the prisons are full.So maybe they thought if they had a passport they could just fly away?
I think they would do anything to cover up a situation so it might not have been an accident!

Maybe the " False " documents they had to get a passport were excellent, at least it is a good possibility.

We have to balance allowing a few terrorist cells to enter the U.S. with all the money our corporations save by having an endless supply of cheap labor.

It's just spin intended to try and persuade everyone that there should be I.D.cards in the UK.
Criminals will always see a way to obtaining stuff they aren't entitled to, and someone somewhere is always looking for extra cash..
