I believe Iconium was a city. See Acts 14:1-2: "At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Gentiles believed." Why? Because Jesus said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19)

Acts 14 contains the continuing story of Paul and Barnabas, companions on the first missionary journey to the Gentiles.
Acts 14 narrates their journey through the area known as Galatia. Within the region of Galatia there were many states and many cities. Paul and Barnabas took the dusty road east of Pisidian Antioch and eighty miles brought them to Iconium.

In Genesis, They wrote that God created light on the first day and the Sun on the 4th day. Genesis was not written to explane the process of creation of which these writers knew nothing. The Book of Genesis was written to help to explain the purpose of creation and help us grasp a spiritual truth and not a scientific or historical fact.
This is why Genesis is worth reading and indeed why the Holy Bible stands as one of the great ethical and moral document of our age.

Iconium is present day city of Konya which is 80 miles from Antioch and 24 miles from Lystra.
