I have a lot of natural curl and wavy to my VERY thick hair, and while I feel blessed to have such hair it's real hard to manage.
I've tried lots of different brands and types of mousses, gels, sprays, and such to eliminate frizz/define waves/etc. but none have really worked well.
My hair is layered, would growing it out to one length help me?
Also what are some other methods and products I can try to help me eliminate the frizz and make my curly waves softer and more defined?

-Read the book and visit the site below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!
-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent. They dry out curly hair.
- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. Then spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. It is also important to use gel on wet hair and scrunch the hair. Then let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer with a diffuser.
- I really like the frizz-ease hair serum and garnier fructis products. Aussie Moist Conditioner works great too, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the website.
- Short layers can give curly hair more volume (not good as you probably know), but long layers, especially on long hair, can help prevent curly hair from drying into a triangle shape.
-This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least the website. Good luck!

hi, I have long natural thick and fine hair. I have some natural wave. However my hair had the frizzies. I use Aussie moisture shampoo. great stuff and I also condition my hair everytime I wash my hair. Length does not make a difference as my hair still had the frizzies. Also the leave in condtioner might be better for you. I am thinking of switching to that myself.
It will give a more natural softer apperance rather than the frizz and poof I had going.....
good luck

Oh I have the equal crisis!! I do not advocate perms for the reason that the chemical compounds are particularly hazardous! Your different choice is to make use of a curling iron with a thick barrel (a million.five"). I realize you stated you do not have time however this approach takes 10 minutes and is effortless. Spray your dried hair with a few middle protectant and divide it into five-eight significant sections. Apply a few wax at the period. Starting practically the roots, wrap the hair across the tong and maintain it in a vertical function for approximately 10 seconds. Release the hair from the tong and maintain it at the same time it cools (or use a pin to maintain it rolled at the same time to visit the following phase). When the hair is completed and funky, run your hands for your hair to damage the significant curls into smaller ones and spray a mist of hair spray! Voila!

I have the exact same type hair as u do from ur description and mine is layered too but i told the hair dresser i had curly hair so she did it according to that, but what difference can it truly make? lolll
Flip ur hair upside down while its wet (damp) and apply a mousse or cream... Pantene for curls (mousse) or Sunsilk for curls (cream) both worked for me... try one or the other or just an other brand (I'm pretty sure theres no BIG difference between them... ) and scrunch ur hair upwards with ur fingers to enhance the curls (gives more bounce and makes ur hair look rly nice)
I personnaly never blow dry my hair (too much trouble...) just go to sleep with ur hair still a bit wet and see what it gives u... if it doesnt work, shame on me :( but if it worked, im glad i could be of help:)
Good luck with those curls!!!

You sound exactly like my bff Madison. She has a revlon straightner (HoT PiNk CaNt MisS It! LOL) adn that straightens her hair super good with a small amount of effort. AFter she does that her hair is to straight so she puts gel in her hair and somewhat scrunches it. It looks really good! The waves are perfect and her hair dosent look as thick or poffy!
