There's no simple answer to your question, as bipolar disorder is very complex and takes a significant amount of time to diagnose. No one can tell you whether or not you have this disorder by what you've posted, you really need to speak to a professional to be properly diagnosed and treated.
What's important right now is that you do what you can to make yourself happy. The way to go about this is seeking a consult from a Psychologist or Psychiatrist who specialize in mood disorders. I can understand your concern for your military career, however, if you do have a mood disorder, leaving it untreated, as you get older, the disorder will get worse and you may not be able to function at the level required by the military. Bipolar disorder can get really nasty, where left untreated, someone with bipolar disorder is likely to engage in high risk behavior, drug abuse and suicide.
I would suggest you get a consult by a psychologist or psychiatrist that specializes in mood disorders. You may want to ask your regular Dr. for a referral or you can search the DBS website (http://www.dbsalliance.org). Once you speak to a professional, they will give you the answers you need and ultimately teach you how to get better. Try looking up bipolar disorder on wikipedia or pubmed.gov. you may be able to identify better with some intelligible info.
Bipolar disorder is a very serious and complex mental disorder. I think it would be great for you to learn as much as you can about it, which will give you some comfort in dealing with the illness and help you work with Dr's, should you decide to get treated.
The worse thing that could happen is they may be able to help you feel better and you'll be more productive for your military career.
Good luck

Don't try to self-diagnose. Bi-polar disorder is one of extreme mood swings. One day the person is euphoric, thinking he can conquer the world, having boundless energy. The next day he may be so depressed that he cannot get out of bed, and can do nothing to feel better.
You should talk to a counselor. If you go into the military, you will be faced with extreme physical and emotional distress, just from the training. A person with bi-polar disorder would not be able to handle the stress heaped on recruits.

I have major mood swing that are very similar. Some times I think I am going insane but I can control them to some extent (but it is very hard). I did some research on bi-polar but I think that is a bit different. Dr. Keith Ablow had a bunch of shows about "Anger Illness" and it is new to the medical field. A lot of women have it but are embarrassed to talk about it. Might be something to look into? Good Luck.

I agree, bi-poalar tendencies last for a few days at a time, not minutes. You may have some form of aniexiety. If these problems affect your decision making skills and affect other simple daily routines, I would mention it to a doctor. There are meds or other resources to help you deal.....you don't have to live like this.
I wish you all the best :)

Usually the manic and depressive stages last for days, and not one minute to the next. Many times hallucinations and very strange behavior are part of it. Don't be afraid to seek professional help. I don't think you are bipolar, but you might have some issues to work out.

Everybody goes through ups and downs, being bipolar is not something you snap in and out of in a minute or two. Honestly you just sound a little young and easily distracted. Being patient, tolerant and being able to focus, is something you can train yourself to do.

This problem might be Bipolar, but it is not extreme, and it would not hurt to get some professional help but anyway it is your health, so it is your wish.
