1. Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
2. Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
3. The iodine test. Iodine will turn bright blue in the presents of starch.
4. Because Benedict's solution tests for free glucose in the urine, which is a sign of sugar diabetes.
6. Because they are a good source of protein.
7. Proteins are made up of chains of amino acids, which are made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur.
8. The carbon in coal comes primarily from plants that were compressed thou time into coal. The carbon in plants originally came from the CO2 in the air which was converted to sugar by photosynthesis. There is some animal life involved in making coal as well which grew from the energy supplied by plants.
9. A substance, usually used in small amounts relative to the reactants, that modifies and increases the rate of a reaction without being consumed in the process.
10. Photosynthesis is the process where plants using chlorophyll is able to use CO2 from the air and water to convert the energy from sunlight into sucrose and release O2 into the air. Respiration is the process by the plant takes the sucrose and converts it into energy which can be used by the plant to build other products and grow. In contrast to photosynthesis, respiration releases CO2 back into the atmosphere.
