What do you like to see ?
Just sitting in a Restaurant watching people is great in NYC.

See the Statue of Liberty, that way you can say you have seen it.

See Ellis Island, that way you can see where your forefathers came from. ( I assume here )

See Manhattan, Walk, Walk, Walk, Walk.

Bring good shoes.

Take the subway, it's perfectly safe. Go the the end.
Walk around, take the Subway back.

So much to list. so much to see.

Just come and have a grand time.

To avoid confusion, Buffalo and Niagara Falls are about a seven-hour drive from New York City.

Within the city, take your pick for a short visit, but make the most of it and plan it out well!! Think about whatever you like to do, because there is certainly a place to do it in the city. Ride the subways, and make sure to just take some nice walks. Even as a native, I love to walk around whenever I get a chance.

Save some time for "impulse" outings, where you see something interesting and decide to take a side trip to it. You don't want to feel rushed to walk past things that you'd otherwise stop at and check out!

Take pictures. Lots of them. This town is good for that.

Look stuff up, plan it out, and just enjoy it!

If your talking about being in NYC, then the Long Island RR offers day trips to many areas on Long Island. Also Metro North RR offers days trips to many spots up the Hudson River. These are great getaways from the hectic pace of the city. For a longer stay take a 2 1/2 hour bus ride to Atlantic City.
