As a physician who has treated hundreds, possibly thousands of upper respiratory illnesses, the odds are great that you have a viral illness. As a general rule strep throat doesnt cough, it also usually presents with a fever and swollen lymph nodes in the neck. As strange as it may seem the actual appearance of your throat is less important in diagnosing strep, as viral illnesses often give it the same appearance. However strep NEEDS to be treated with antibiotics due to uncommon but very serious effects on the heart and kidneys. So if no improvement in 2-3 days OR acute worsening such as fever, chills, rash swelling of throat would push you on to the doctor sooner.

Could be strep throat or tonsillitis? Does it look like you have pus bags on your tonsils? Or better yet, do you still have your tonsils? Strep throat can follow tonsillitis, or without it and usually has a really foul smelling breath. Call the doctor.

Probably just a sore throat, but just in case, go to a doctor. Until then, gargle hot water with salt for 2 minutes. ( Not too hot, though.)
Mynameismofuga, do you have any idea what gonorrhea is?

It;s possible to be strept throat which I had many years ago. And very painful to swallow. Could be tonsils, but you need to go to your doctor you are more then likely going to need antibiotics or more to help get well again.

a broad variety of viruses and bacteria can cause those symptoms, go to a doctor who'll give you an antibiotic and a treatment for pain and swell... also drink lots of water (room temperature, not cold)and keep your throat warm!
