I was in Bangkok in 2004 with my mother-in-law and her bag was slashed by a passerby while she's shopping in a crowded street there. Lost her wallet with money, luckily not her wallet with Baht and US Dollars. Rule of the thumb, be cautious with the people around you wherever you go and keep an eye of your belongings. Have a safe trip.

I think that is just a popular plot in movies!! You are more likely to lose stuff (mobile phone...) going thru the security screening machine (more stuff is lost there and in toilets than anywhere in an airport). Also - once you are thru security - only other passengers are there so be more careful/safer before you pass security checks.

Well, I guess that is possible, but why? - however, when you are in transit, you should always keep an eye on your bag.. thats always as in 100% of the time.

you should check side effects, because it sounds like whatever you are doing has made you a bit paranoid.. no?

Seems like you been watching too many movies!....LOL

Just keep an eye on your bags. These things rarely, if ever, happen!

Never happened to me before

Not in Thailand, but maybe if you are traveling from Myanmar or Laos into Thailand. Just be wary of over-friendly strangers. Be street smart.

Well, there is a movie called "Brokedown Palace" which is based on your scenario. And, that movie is based on a true story. So, I suppose it's happened, but not to anybody I've known.
