I'm a Christian, I believe in and do my best to follow all of Christ's teachings. That's about the extent of it.
I don't regularly attend any particular church but I visit different sects/denominations/versions (whatever you want to call it) all the time.
I think all the different sects of Christianity that have come since after Christ's life on earth are quite silly. There should be nothing more than God and his teachings.

Some people process information in different ways. In terms of religion, some people respond to thundering sermons, while others would be utterly horrified by something like that. Some people are more "sweetness and light" in their orientation, while others are more aggressive. Some like loud, charismatic services, while others prefer quiet reverence. I'm not really worried about the different sects and denominations, nor am I overly surprised that they exist. You can't pitch the ball the same way to everyone. Or, I suppose you can stubbornly try, but you won't have very good results.

The problem is that Jesus said that the way to eternal life is a narrow path. All the sects of Christianity are trying to widen that path daily. That just is not consistent with what Jesus said.
He does not want us separated, but he will not force us into a particular path. He will guide those willing to humbly open their hearts to him but he will not force anyone.

There is a Confucist saying that fits this perfectly:
There are many roads to the top of the mountain.
I can't speak for Jesus, but it is my belief that whatever mode of religion, whatever shade of religion, whatever degree of religion works for you, if it helps you to be a better person, then that is the right way for you.
It's as futile to wish for unanimity in religion as it is to wish for unanimity in politics. God gave us each a brain to use, and we all seem to use them in a slightly different manner. I don't think we were meant to be like robots and all think the same way, worship the same way, have the same personalities. The world would be a pretty dull place if that were so, wouldn't you agree?

First of all, Miriam, you are wrong
Anyway, Christ didn't want His Church to be divided, and it wasn't for 1500 years. .
One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
Too many people are so focusd on the differences and that's all that matters to them.

John 17:20. "And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me."
"Non pro his autem rogo tantum sed et pro eis qui credituri sunt per verbum eorum in me"
John 17:21. "That they all may be one, as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."
"Ut omnes unum sint sicut tu Pater in me et ego in te ut et ipsi in nobis unum sint ut mundus credat quia tu me misisti"
