Wow, people here can really bash on Christians...
I will pray for you all that do =D
On a more serious note thought, you can take it however you want, it just means that you obviously need help and He can help you. That person is going to take their time to ask Him to help you out in your problems, if you notice them or not. Feel thankful if they take that time to pray for you, I know when I say it I do mean it and I actually do pray. I do it without even telling the person many times. If you guys have different beliefs or whatever, well go ahead, it's just very disrespectful how many people can talk about others because of different beliefs. Christianese? Wow.

I always figure it meant they couldn't come up with a good answer. Christianese for "Oh Yeah?"

Not usually; more like "Christianese" for saying "God knows what's best so I'm giving this situation to God because He is much more suited to handle it than I am."

No. They are really praying for your benefit even if it is a prayer that you no longer remain an idiot. If you are an idiot would you want to remain one? At least the Christian who would pray for an idiot (if there is one) has their betterment in mind. So, don' t knock it if it is for your good.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

No, it's Christianese for "I'm sorry you're going to Hell".
When someone says to me, "I will pray for you."
I tell them, "I will continue to THINK for you."

Basically, It means that no good will come for you, and that you need to work hard to fix whatever the problem is that they are praying for. It also means that They believe anything They are told, even if there is no proof or reason, just because someone more powerful told them so. i.e. a conformist

No, but I do not think we should use it in a situation if we do not really want to pray for someone. We should love, and it is not easy to love everyone.

No. When a Christian says that, it is Christianese for "I am an idiot."

Perhaps it means just what it says. If you feel you need prayers because you are an idiot, then the prayers will go towards that. If you feel you need prayers because something in your life needs turning around, the prayers will go towards that. And if you are happy and content, and feel blessed, then the prayers will help you stay that way.

No. It's kind of like saying you're lost and confused and that they will pray that you will believe like them. Which they believe will straighten you out. And help you 'come to Jesus.'
I always tell them they can pray for you. Nothing's happen yet either way. But maybe it helps put their mind at ease.
