According to Christians - to get as many people to deny God and end up in hell before God banishes him to the lake of fire.
In the book of Revelations, Jesus locks Satan up for 1,000 years after the tribulation. Then Satan is let out. Why I don't know. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me as to why God would want people decieved again.
But, when this happens Satan will come back to earth with all his supposed minions and lure people to hell. Then the final battle will take place, and Satan will be bainshed forever into the lake of fire along with all those who follow him.

Satan's final punishment will be the lake of fire and brimstone mentioned in Revalations 20:10.
