To gain weight, you should increase the number of calories in your daily diet by about 300 calories. These extra calories should be part of a balanced diet. Have larger size helpings of food at meals and keep nutritious snacks readily available. More information at http://www.toloseweight.org/gainweight.html

Increase your caloric intake through fruits, vegetables, and low-fat proteins. Most people don't want to gain weight though. The other way to gain weight is to gain muscle through lifting weights and running endurance rather than speed.

Take up weight lifting and eat protein - muscle weighs more than fat after all. Which will look better - gaining weight by fat or gaining weight by muscle?
