It depends on the shape of your skin.

Before you go and have it done by a specialist (which is costly and can be quite painful) try Mary Kay's microdermabrasion set. No, it's not going to be as good as the real thing, but it DOES lessen the appearance of wrinkles and even helped to clear up my adult acne!

According to thousands of online testimonials, microdermabrasion is very good at diminishing and removing most superficial skin imperfections. But like in most non-surgical procedures, the results depend on your prior medical condition, on your body’s recovery ability and on the specialist who performed the procedure on you. Most patients who have tried micro dermabrasion say the treatment worked well in diminishing their fine lines, age spots, enlarged pores, acne scars, stretch marks and dull skin. More serious skin imperfections cannot be removed with this non-invasive technique, because it only removes the top layer of the skin, not being able to reach deeper layers of skin.
If you have the full series of professional microdermabrasion treatments and then a maintenance session every 2-3 months, the results will last for as long as you have the maintenance procedures.
If you choose at home microderma kits, the result will last for a few weeks after you stop using the products.
Hope this helps.

Done by a skin specialist they will remove the surface of your skin. I might be left reddish looking since they are removing the outer layer of the skin. You will grow a new layer of skin and it will be up to you to keep it clean etc. to avoid it's going back to what it is now. The Micro kits you can buy in stores are not going to do much for you and will be a waste of money if you have really bad skin. The specialist will tell you how to keep your skin looking fresh.
