If he gave you his number, it means he likes you and wants you to call him. It definitely means that he wants you to call him, but why would he want you to call him if he doesn't like you? He wouldn't. Give it some time before you call him, though...you don't want to seem too eager. And when you do call him, tell him that you just found his number again, like in your pocket or purse or something, and decided to call him just to see what he's up to. This way you won't seem desperate and he won't be able to tell that you like him. Hope this is helpful enough to be the best answer, and good luck! I agree with one of the previous answers. Don't call right away. Give it about a day or two and tell him you just found his number in your laundry or something and are just calling to see "what's up."
Leave it up to HIM to tell YOU why he gave you his number and what he is looking for. Don't tell him directly that you like him. If he asks you out on a date and you like him simply agree to go out with him. This way, you won't come across as desperate or overly eager.
Leave it up to him to do the chasing. That way, you'll have a better idea of whether he really likes you too, or is he just talking to you out of convenience or just trying to get into your body.
